Lake Ohrid – In Republic of Macedonia there are 34 mountains, 53 lakes (natural and artificial) which the oldest natural one is lake Ohrid. Lake Ohrid is the deepest lake in the Balkan (280m). It is 4 million years old and there are found more than 200 endemic species that are world important. Lake straddles the mountainous border between southwestern Macedonia and eastern Albania. it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979 and when, in 2010. While you are in Ohrid City, don’t forget to visit the main sighs like Church of St. Sophia, Church of St. Panteleimon, Church of St. John at Kaneo, Monastery of Saint Naum, Ancient Theater of Ohrid and the Museum of Water – Bay of Bones.
